Architect
Preston Phillips showed his client Elena Ford a photo of Lakich's sculpture
California Dreamin' which she had recently completed
for the L.A. Auto Show. The great granddaughter of Henry Ford wanted a variation
for her home outside of Detroit.
Lakich recreated the work and substituted the Ford
logo for the Hollywood sign in the original. The architect told the artist,
"Don't worry about the copyright. They own it."
Located on the wall at the end of the long indoor
swimming pool, the neon creates a lovely reflection on the water in daylight
and at night.
