When a foreign journalist asked permission to record Lakich "in the midst of the artistic struggle," she replied that he was welcome to film her drawing. "An idea doesn't spring full grown from my mind. I discover it in the process of drawing and work it out in re-drawing." The style to which The Phoenix belongs reproduces the tubular lines and the shaded aura of the glow. Lakich use many finished drawings as studies for sculptures; The Phoenix, however, has not yet become three-dimensional.
